Novigrad is situated on the western coast of Istria. It is recognizable by its numerous natural attractions and a rich cultural heritage. Novigrad boasts the cleanest sea on the Adriatic, beautiful beaches and affordable coast. The beaches are sandy and pebble and nearby there are hotels that have swimming pools, sports facilities and a diverse cuisine.

The center of town Novigrad is situated on a small island which is connected to the mainland, and there is the so-called old town. The greatest symbol of Novigrad are the city walls that were visited by countless tourists throughout the whole year. Tourist tradition of city goes as far as 19th century. The city is known by olive oil and traditional taverns. During the summer in Novigrad can be noted the "July blues festival" hosting various artists from all over the world.

City protectors are holy Mary, holy Maksim and holy Pelagius, to whom is dedicated the church. The church has preserved early Christian fragmentary appearance, and in church there is sacred collection, only of its kind in the whole of Istria. City walls from the 13th century are reinforced with round Renaissance towers. In the 5th century Benedictine monastery was built by the sea. Protector of Novigrad is holy Pelagius which is celebrated 28 August.

Due to the proximity of towns of Porec, Umag and Buje many tourists stop by to Novigrad if they are in some neighboring towns, precisely because of its rich historical value. The city has only four thousand citizens
